He toi, he aroha, he taonga.

Art, love, treasure.

Nau mai ki tā mātou wānanga toi!

Join us at Te Aro for a fun and creative harakeke earring workshop, where you’ll learn how to craft stunning whākakai earrings using harakeke (New Zealand flax) and traditional Māori weaving techniques.

Guided step-by-step by skilled weavers, you’ll discover the art of raranga (weaving) and create your own unique pair of pīwari (earrings) inspired by the beautiful Te Taiao (nature) of Aotearoa.

No prior weaving experience is needed –  just bring your creativity, curiosity, and a love for connecting with nature and traditional Māori art.

At the end of the wānanga, you’ll leave with two pairs of handcrafted harakeke earrings – beautiful taonga (treasure) made with your own hands.

One pair to gift (Tikanga) and one pair for yourself.

If you would like to make more during the session, there is an option to add more pairs when purchasing your ticket (ensuring we have enough supplies).

You can also pay on the day if you get into the groove (supply dependent).

Price: $20 per extra set

All materials and tools are supplied alongside manaakitanga (shared kai / light refreshments.)

Spaces are limited, so secure your spot today!
