Join us at Te Aro for a fun and creative Kōmore (bangle) making workshop, where you’ll learn how to craft stunning kōmore using coloured harakeke (New Zealand flax) using traditional Māori weaving techniques.
Guided step-by-step by skilled weavers, you’ll discover the art of raranga (weaving) and create your own bangles inspired by the beautiful Te Taiao (nature) of Aotearoa.
No prior weaving experience is needed – just bring creativity, curiosity, and a passion for connecting with nature and traditional Māori art.
At the end of the wānanga, you’ll leave with two handcrafted kōmore made with your own hands.
One to gift (Tikanga) and one for yourself.
Bring your own additional taonga (small shell, bead or stone) to add your personal flare.
If you would like to make more at home, there is an option to add more when purchasing your ticket (ensuring we have enough supplies).
You can also pay on the day if you get into the groove (supply dependent).
